Next Steps Committee

n/a

The Orchard Farm School District continues to work proactively to accommodate student enrollment growth while maintaining high academic standards. To that end, the OFSD’s Board of Education has approved the development, structure, and charge of a committee focused on addressing the district’s future facility needs for grades K-8. This committee will be referred to as the “Next Steps Committee” and will be charged with the following:

  • Review enrollment trends and projections

  • Develop recommendations to accommodate future increases in student enrollment

  • Review status of current school configurations and make recommendations on most effective future use

  • Develop recommendations regarding future facility needs

  • Formal and final plan approval will be the responsibility of the Board of Education

Next Steps Committee Membership:

In addition to three Board members and the Superintendent, the Committee will have thirty additional members, to be comprised of 50% parents and/or community members and 50% District staff. If more than 15 individuals (representing the parents/and or community members) express interest in the committee, then the Board of Education will work with District administrators to make selections that include representation of all three buildings and geographical areas of the district. In this way we can ensure that the future needs of the district are in the best interest of all stakeholders.

The Board of Education will be represented on the Committee by Steve Goeke, Brad Westerfeld, and Eric Williams.

Committee Expectations:

The time commitment of Committee members will be significant. The Committee will meet in the evenings and each meeting will be approximately 2 – 3 hours in length. There will likely be 3-5 meetings from February 2022 through January 2023. It is important that Committee members attend the first and last meeting and miss no more than one of the other meetings, because this investment of time and effort will help to determine the future of our District.
