Lunch FAQs

Are lunch menus for each school posted online?

Yes. Monthly menus for Breakfast and Lunch are posted on the district website prior to the first day of every month of the school year. The August menus are usually available online two weeks prior to the first day of school. You can access the menus from the home page by clicking the Lunch Menu icon under the Quick Links menu. Menus are not available on the Parent Portal.

My child has just reached a zero balance in their meal payment account. Will you feed them today?

Yes. A student will be fed lunch even if his/her meal payment account reaches a zero balance. Parents will be notified by email to replenish the child’s account immediately. Once in a negative balance, only regular meals will be available for purchase.

How can I send money for the child’s meal payment account?

You can send cash/check or pay online. To pay by cash or check, preferably use the Meal Payment envelopes, which are available in every school in three places: 1) in the cafeteria; 2) in the office; and 3) in the hallway. Make the check payable to Orchard Farm R-5 School District and have your child give it to the school office or cafeteria staff. To pay online, you must first create a My School Bucks account.  The District cannot accept meal payments by phone.

I have multiple children at different schools. Do I have to send individual payments?

No. Using the Meal Payment envelopes, you can designate how the funds from one check should be applied for up to three different students. Also when paying online using My School Bucks you can deposit funds into separate Meal Payment accounts.

My child is spending too much and/or eating the wrong foods. Is there anything I can do?

Yes. Food Service can limit your child’s meal payment account. For example, they can limit/restrict snacks (such as chips, ice cream, cookies) and a la carte items (such as pizza and sandwiches). Just call the Food Service Department at 636-250-5316 to make these changes.

Is there a way I can review my child’s lunch account?

Yes. If you are an enrolled user with My School Bucks transaction history for the past 90 days can be viewed by clicking “Cafeteria Meal History” in the Meal Accounts drop-down menu.

Can I get detailed nutritional information on the lunch items?

Yes. Once you open the menu from the website and as you hover over each individual item, complete nutritional information will show including calories, fat, carbs, sugar and more. There are also special tools such as Filter Special Diets and View Carb Counts that make it easy to make informed meal decisions for your child. A Meal Pricing chart is also available on the menu page.

I’ve heard there’s a meal app?

Yes. Download the free Nutrislice App today from the App Store and the Orchard Farm School District menus are one click away on your smart phones and other portable devices. Imagine pulling up the week’s menu while you’re at the grocery store! Download the app today to make meal planning easier.
