Background Check Information

For the safety of our students, Orchard Farm School District Policies GBEBC and IICC (per Statute 168.133, RSMo) require all volunteers to satisfactorily complete a background check every 12 months.  The district has made arrangements with a third party contractor, Background Investigation Bureau (BIB), to conduct a comprehensive criminal and sex offender registry search.  There will be an annual fee, payable through the BIB website, due at time of registration. This fee will not be reimbursed.

The Orchard Farm School District recognizes two levels of volunteers:

1. VOLUNTEER - Examples include room parents or persons who volunteer to assist with field trips, class parties or other special occasions. OASIS volunteers are also included in this category. VOLUNTEERS will register with BIB and will be issued name badges by BIB upon successful completion of the background check which must be shown when volunteering. VOLUNTEERS do not need to complete any online training's.

2. SCREENED VOLUNTEER - Certain situations will require a higher level of background check (fingerprinting), which will be determined by the Superintendent or designee. One example is a parent volunteering to chaperone an overnight field trip. If you are told that your situation will require FBI fingerprinting, you will need to register with the Missouri Highway Patrol MACHS online system to make the appointment. (Use 4-digit registration number: 1782) Those instructions are below. Do not register with MACHS or make an appointment for fingerprinting unless you are instructed to do so. This background check will be in addition to the BIB background check which is required for all volunteers.

SCREENED VOLUNTEERS must complete the online training's found through SafeSchools Training at http://ofsd.mo.safeschools.com/login.  If you haven't been given login information please contact Human Resources at 636.925.5456.
VISITOR - parents/guests who attend a school-sponsored activity. Visitors must check in at the main office and depart the school building at the end of the activity. Visitors do not need to complete a background check or complete any online training's.
If you have any questions about background checks, contact the secretaries at your child's school building. We appreciate your time and service and thank you for volunteering.
