SICK LEAVE PAYOUT

 SUPPORT STAFF
On retirement, employees with at least five consecutive years of service with the district will receive $40 for each unused sick day.  Support staff with at least five consecutive years of service with the district who leave the district for reasons other than retirement will recive $20 a day for each unused sick day. 
CERTIFIED STAFF  
When a certified staff member's employment ends with the district, sick leave will be paid out at the following rate: 
 •  Employment terminates for reasons other than retirement: $20 per day 
•  Notification of retirement submitted prior to January 15th: $50 per day
•  Notification of retirement submitted after January 15th: $40 per day


NOTIFICATION OF RETIREMENT

PROFESSIONAL STAFF INCENTIVE FOR EARLY NOTIFICATION OF RETIREMENT
In order for the district to recruit, employ and appropriately train replacement employees, the district encourages certified staff to notify the superintendent as soon the employee has made their decision to retire from the district. Professional staff with a minimum of 5 years of service with Orchard Farm School District who have submitted written notification of retirement by the following dates will be eligible for one of the following one-time payments:

 • Notice submitted by July 31st: Professional staff members who have submitted written notification of their retirement on or before July 31 will receive a one-time payment equal to the total dollar value of two months of employee-only, district paid health, dental and vision insurance. This payment will be issued on or before June 30 of the year of the effective date.

•  Notice submitted by January 15th: Professional staff members who have submitted written notification of their retirement on or before January 15th will receive a one-time payment of $1,000. This payment will be made after July 1 of the year of the retirement effective date.
  (For the purpose of  the incentive for early retirement notification, professional staff includes employees paid on a salary basis and classified as professional staff including certified teachers, principals, administrators and non-certificated staff paid on a contract basis)


EMPLOYEES RETIRING FROM THE DISTRICT

Termination of District Paid Health Insurance Benefits: 
District paid health insurance benefits for employees retiring at the end of the school year will terminate effective June 30th.  Employees retiring during the school year, coverage will end at the end of the month in which employment with the district ends. 

Retiree Option to Continue Group Health Plan Benefits:
Employees retiring from the district are eligible to continue health, dental and vision benefits.  The full premiums are paid by the retiree at the same rate as the district.  Retirees and their dependents have one year from the date of retirement to enroll in the coverage.  Once that date has passed, the retiree is not eligible to re-enroll.
