School Bus Safety Rules
Student safety is our number one priority. In order to provide the safest transportation to our students they are expected to consider the bus an extension of the classroom.

STAY PROPERLY SEATED.
Keep backs and bottoms against the seats at all times with their feet on the floor.
Stay facing forward.
No standing while the bus is in motion. Wait until the bus comes to a complete stop before getting up.
Keep your body and personal items out of the aisle at all times.

NO HORSEPLAY.
No fighting.
No throwing objects for any reason.
Keep all hands and body parts inside the bus.

NO EATING ON THE BUS.
Save your breakfast until you arrive at school. You will have time to eat it there.
Special circumstances must be cleared through the transportation office.
Any treats sent home from school must be stored in your backpack or thrown away.
Water is the only beverage allowed on the bus.

NO TALKING AT RAILROAD TRACKS.
When interior lights are turned on, there can be no talking until the driver turns them off.
No hands in the air or jumping as the bus crosses the tracks.

KEEP HANDS, FEET, AND OTHER OBJECTS TO YOURSELF.
Do not touch or take another student’s personal property.
No hitting, kicking, pinching, or any other form of touching another student.

NO SCREAMING, YELLING, OR DISTRACTING THE DRIVER.
Use inside voices while on the bus.
Use headphones with electronics or mute the sound.

All violations of rules and regulations will be immediately sent to the principal for disciplinary action. Failure to observe rules may result in bus riding privileges suspended.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
I live in a new subdivision, when will transportation come into my subdivision?
Transportation will be provided to new subdivisions when construction has progressed enough to allow the buses to travel safely through the streets without being delayed.

Why doesn't the bus come into my cul-de-sac or dead end street?
If vehicles are parked in the cul-de-sac there may not be enough room for the bus to successfully turn around without having to back. Backing of school buses should be avoided whenever possible. The district may provide transportation into cul-de-sacs having a 52 foot radius with no center island. Routing into these cul-de-sacs will be considered on a case by case basis.

Why can’t my child eat/drink on the bus?
Eating on a bus is a choking hazard or can cause an allergic reaction to another student. Bottled water is allowed.
