Screen

For all screen issues, there is no troubleshooting that can be done.  For each type of issue below, you will need to request a repair (see Step 2 on the Student Tech Help Desk homepage).

Impact Damage

If your screen looks like one of these images, your LCD panel has been damaged.  This happens when pressure has been applied it.  This can happen if it has been dropped, kicked, or stepped on, and it can happen if there is something sitting on the keyboard when the lid is closed.  Please refer to Step 2 on the Student Help Desk homepage to request a repair.  This damage will incur the $20 Damage Fee to be repaired.

Dark Screen

If your Chromebook's power light is on but the screen is not booting up, you will need to bring your Chromebook in for repair.  Please refer to Step 2 on the Student Tech Help Desk homepage to request a repair.

Occasionally, a dark screen happens when an LCD panel is so damaged that it will not illuminate at all.  Your librarian will be able to tell if the dark screen is due to a technical issue or if it is due to damage.   If the screen is damaged, the student will incur the $20 Damage Fee to repair the device.

Screen Has Lines

Sometimes, the LCD panels fail through no fault of your own.  Here are three examples of what that looks like.  If your screen has lines in it, or if half of your screen is white, please refer to Step 2 on the Student Tech Help Desk homepage to request a repair.  This is considered a technical issue and does not incur the Damage Fee.

Screen is Glitching or Blinking

If your screen seems to be glitching (not working 100% of the time while in use) or is blinking/blipping, please refer to Step 2 on the Student Help Desk homepage to request a repair.  This is considered a technical issue and does not incur the Damage Fee.
