New Face Covering Requirements

At OFSD, we are regularly monitoring the COVID situation and have made a commitment to update our guidelines and processes as we learn of new information. Earlier this week, the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE), and the Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS) updated their recommendations related to students wearing masks or face coverings.

The new guidance recently published by AAP suggests “cloth face coverings can be safely worn by all children 2 years of age and older, including the vast majority of children with underlying health conditions, with rare exceptions.” The use of face coverings can provide an additional layer of protection against the spread of infection.

With this in mind, OFSD has updated its face-covering guidelines. Effective Aug. 31, all students grades K-12 will be required to wear a face covering (PreK encouraged).
