Gifted Education Rationale
The Orchard Farm R-5 School District is concerned with the uniqueness of individuals and is committed to maximizing the individual potential and performance of students who participate in the Gifted Studies Program.
The Gifted Studies Program offers a differentiated curriculum providing experience in diversity, enrichment, and substantive learning with increasing levels of abstraction. The program includes structures to develop, expand and refine the growth of the individual, both academically and affectively.
Gifted Education Values
The following are values and guiding principles of the Orchard Farm School District Gifted Education Program:
A. The gifted and talented student deserves opportunities to develop his/her abilities to the greatest possible extent.
B. The needs of each gifted and talented student are unique to the individual.
C. The gifted and talented student needs to understand what it means to be gifted and develop an understanding of his/her giftedness.
D. The gifted and talented student needs to pursue his/her interests.
