OFMS Riverspointe News - March 2012

This month’s student spotlight includes further congratulations to our students that received special recognition with the Spelling Bee, Science Fair, and the Des Lee Music Festival.  Our school’s Spelling Bee champion this school year was Will Runion (7th grade), followed in 2nd place by Brian Fritz (7th) and Claire Sanford (7th) in 3rd place.  I’d like to offer a special thank you to our staff members that made the event so professional, most notably Mrs. Sanchez who coordinated the event.  Furthermore, this year’s Science Fair was a smashing success for our 6th grade students, especially for the following students that received ‘First Grand’ recognition: Trent Boschert, Julie Johnston, Mady Leavy, Jon Niemeyer, Anna Peacock, Kyla Reid, Karlie Swisher (7th).  On behalf of all of our students, I would like to say thank you to Mr. Hall for the countless hours after school he spent helping students with their projects.  Finally, congratulations are in order for the following students that were invited to participate in the Des Lee Music Festival at the University of Missouri-St. Louis along with their instructors Mr. Scott and Mrs. Bhat; Tyler Woosencraft, Claire Sanford, Maggie Mobley, Thomas Yonke, Gabe Murphy (Price), Alex Davis, and Brandon Overstreet.

Once again, thank you for this opportunity to lead students and staff members at Orchard Farm Middle School and I look forward to the lasting relationships that we are certain to build.

OFMS Riverspointe News - February 2012

I have been looking forward to writing this article; because it gives me a chance to do one of my favorite things…give positive recognition to our students.  We truly have a wonderful group of students here at Orchard Farm and I know I speak on behalf of our entire staff when I say “Thank you!”  Thank you to our students for being who you are, thank you to our parents for supporting your children and our school, and thank you to our community for your continued support of our school district.

So without further ado, congratulations to Jessica Albisser (8th grade).  Jessica placed 1st in the VFW Patriot’s Pen essay contest at the local Post level and then took 2nd at the District level.  This is a remarkable achievement, especially considering the VFW District Commander stated that Jessica’s 2nd place finish was out of over 600 entries received by the VFW posts in the 9th District.  Additionally, we recently held our annual Geography Bee and congratulations are in order for our top 3 finalists; Teddy Stopke-3rd place (7th grade), Will Runion-2nd place (7th grade), and our champion Sean Smyers (7th grade).

Once again, thank you for this opportunity to lead students and staff members at Orchard Farm Middle School and I look forward to the lasting relationships that we are certain to build.

Sincerely,

Dr. Wade Steinhoff

OFMS Riverspointe News - January 2012

Looking Back:
This first semester was fantastic!  Our students worked hard to achieve their goals both in the classroom and in extracurricular activities.  Most recently, our students completed their first semester Final Exams.  This can be a stressful week of testing, however it is incredibly rewarding to see our students work hard all semester, prepare for the final, and then achieve to the best of their ability.

Looking Forward:
I want to encourage all of our students to make their best efforts to be at school each and every day.  To this point in the school year we have had ‘record’ highs for attendance.  I am hopeful that we can continue that trend and I want to remind our students of our agreement; If each grade level has 5 perfect attendance days, we can shift our Spring Dance from an after-school event to an evening dance.  Attendance at school truly is the first step towards a successful experience at school…without you here, we can’t accomplish our goals.

Once again, thank you for this opportunity to lead students and staff members at Orchard Farm Middle School and I look forward to the lasting relationships that we are certain to build.

Sincerely,

Dr. Wade Steinhoff
Principal
Orchard Farm Middle School
