 MAP TEST

April 2nd- April 23rd

6th and 7th Grade Students will take Communication Arts and Math Assessments and 8th Grade Students will take Communication Arts, Math, and Science Assessments.

Here are some helpful tips to remember:
 

  • Get a good night’s rest.

  • Eat a healthy breakfast (students will receive a FREE breakfast at school if they are testing that day; see your Advisory Teacher for details). 

  • Always answer EVERY question!

  • Use scrap paper to draw pictures, make tables, or write down your thoughts.

  • Double check your answers, re-read what you wrote, review your thoughts.

  • Use your calculator, ruler, and/or protractor when needed. Be precise!

  • Underline important words and numbers to make sure you understand the questions asked.

  • Read the directions and the questions carefully. Some questions have more than one step to it.

  • Show ALL of your work when asked to do so. Show every step you took, even if you used your calculator.

  • Make sure you BELIEVE you can answer each question! You know more than you think you do!

Crider Center Classroom Lessons:

 
 6th Grade Program: “Changes and Choices” – Students learn how to make healthy life choices and learn to take responsibility for their decisions.  They are introduced to skills which will improve communication.  The students will also learn skills to better cope with difficult issues, such as handling peer pressure, dealing with loss, anger management, addiction and abuse prevention.
 
7th Grade Program: “Criticism and Cyber Bullying” - Students learn how to distinguish between “fair” or “valid” criticism versus “unfair” or “invalid” criticism and learn coping skills for anger management and effective listening skills. They will also have a better understanding of appropriate versus inappropriate responses to bullying behaviors, how to protect themselves when online and what to do if they become a victim of verbal or cyber bullying.
 
8th Grade Program: “Healthy Relationships” - Students learn how to understand healthy versus unhealthy dating relationships, comprehend how alcohol and other drugs may adversely affect dating relationships, understand how males can be positive role models in the prevention of sexual assault, and heighten the awareness of Internet safety in the prevention of sexual assault. They will also dispel common myths of rape and date rape, including ways gender stereotyping can influence or prevent sexual assault, comprehend that the victim is blameless, and identify support systems for assault and abuse victims.
 
Special Presentation for our 7th Graders! Rick Zerr, Circuit Judge, Presiding Judge of the 11th Judicial Circuit in Saint Charles County and Tony Stewart, Cyber Detective gave a presentation on CyberBullying and CyberSafety 
 
Junior Achievement: 8th Graders will participate in “JA in a Day, Economics for Success” on February 9th.
  
D.A.R.E – School Resource Officer, Tom Ban, works with our 7th and 8th graders for Middle School DARE!!!
