What is the Technology Help Desk?

The Technology Help Desk is a course designed to teach students how to repair Chromebooks.  The Technology Help Desk receives damaged or malfunctioning Chromebooks for the entire district to repair.  Students can take the course for one semester or for the entire school year.  Since the course counts as an elective, the course can be taken multiple times.  In this course, students receive hands-on experience with customer service when receiving repairs, filling out repair forms, trouble shooting and problem solving as they attempt to repair the issue, and documentation of the process.  We provide a similar experience to working in a REAL computer repair shop.  Students will develop collaboration and communication skills in addition to honing creativity and critical thinking skills.  Opportunities exist for leadership roles as well to train new students to the program and to work with our technology department with summer employment with the district.  

What do students do if there are no Chromebooks to repair that day?

As a required part of the course, students must complete the PC Pro Online Course through TestOut.  This course will prepare students to take the exam to certificate them with A+ Certification.  Students can use this certification right out of high school to get a job repairing computers.
