 Mandatory Training for Volunteers

Thank you for your interest in serving as a Volunteer for the Orchard Farm R-V School District!  We are extremely grateful to have you dedicating your time and efforts to the students of our district, and hope that your experience brings you great satisfaction.

Working with our students is a wonderful opportunity, and with this comes tremendous responsibility.  Case law, Missouri Revised Statutes, and corresponding board policies have been developed over the years with ongoing efforts to provide our students with the safest learning environment.  To this end, those folks charged with working with our children (teachers, substitutes, volunteers, and the like) are required to complete certain trainings.  In addition to mandatory trainings, the district also believes it to be in the best interest and safety of our children to complete a variety of specific trainings depending on the responsibility you assume with the district.

In your case as a VOLUNTEER, you must complete the required trainings that are found in the document library to the right with the title  Training Courses for Volunteers.   This document will list all of the required trainings along with explicit directions for how to complete the required courses as well as the specific parameters for “passing” the training courses.  In addition, there is a document that provides direction to another vendor, in2vate,  that the district uses for two of its trainings.  The  In2Vate Training Info document will assist you in completing the two courses via the vendor “In2Vate.”

Finally, the Documentation of Staff Training form may be found in the document library to your right as well.  You will track your completed trainings on this form and submit this document electronically or in person or by mail to the district’s training compliance officer, Ms. Lisa Broeker, Administrative Assistant, as soon as you complete the trainings.  Ms. Broeker’s email address is lbroeker@ofsd.k12.mo.us.

The district is very aware of the generosity you have displayed in not only volunteering, but taking time from your busy schedules to complete a significant amount of training.  We thank you in advance for accepting this responsibility in the spirit it is intended—to provide the safest and most caring environment for the students of the Orchard Farm School District.  Please note that certain policy require ANNUAL TRAINING for volunteers.   Therefore, you will have to complete these specific trainings each school year that you wish to volunteer.

Thank you for your service to the students of the Orchard Farm R-V School District.  We are forever grateful for your generosity!

 Background Check Information

For the safety of our students, Orchard Farm School District Policy GBEBC (per Statute 168.133, RSMo) requires all volunteers to satisfactorily complete a background check annually.  This will be done through the Family Care Safety Registry (FCSR), which satisfies the requirement of a Missouri Highway Patrol criminal name check.  See the "FCSR Reg Instructions" in the Documents section in the top right hand corner above to link to the FCSR website to register electronically.  (Note that the link is at the end of the instruction sheet)  There will be a $10 fee payable at the time of registration as well as a $1 processing fee for a total of $11.  These fees will not be reimbursed; however, you only need to register at the FCSR once - not every year.  Once your social security number is in the system, it stays there.

Also, please complete the "FCSR Employee.Volunteer Registration Form" (found in top right hand corner above) and send it to Beth Workman at the OFSD Central Office, 2165 Highway V, St. Charles, MO 63301 so that we know that you are interested in volunteering and that you have registered with FCSR.

Do not mail the form to the FCSR unless you are unable to register electronically.  (Please note that registration by mail take approximately 5 weeks to process as opposed to 5 business days for online registrations.)  If you mail the hard copy to FCSR also please send a copy to Beth Workman.  You will be responsible for alerting the OFSD Central Office each school year that you wish to volunteer so that a background check can be run at FCSR.  This notice must include your full name, date of birth including year, and social security number.

Certain situations will require a higher level of background check (fingerprinting), which will be determined by the Superintendent or designee.  If you are told that your situation will require FBI fingerprinting, you will need to register with the Missouri Highway Patrol MACHS online system to make the appointment. (Use 4-digit registration number: 1782)  Those instructions are also in the top right hand corner above.  Do not register with MACHS or make an appointment for fingerprinting unless you are instructed to do so.  This background check will be in addition to the FCSR registration which, is required for all volunteers.

If you have any questions about background checks, e-mail Beth Workman at bworkman@ofsd.k12.mo.us.  We appreciate your time and service and thank you for volunteering.
